Armed with sigificant experience across ethics, integrity and governance and, having been Head of the Anti-Bribery & Corruption Practice Team, the Trade Sanctions Practice Team and Head of Legal & Compliance across Africa, Middle East, Asian Countries and GEM (Growth Emerging Markets) at Novartis, Barbara has found herself a new home where she can apply her significant expertise and continue influencing better ethics, integrity and corporate governance.
Barbara who was appointed to the role mid of last year is succeeding Philip Richards whom up to his retirement on 31st of December 2019 has been Group executive, Group General Counsel Rio Tinto and has only began on January the 1st of 2020 in her new role.
Her passion in creating diverse and inclusive working environments will see her championing issues that enable and cultivate causes for better workplaces and for improvement in gender diversity. Barbara has a wide interest in societal and community topics.

Barbara who is originally from Italy has over 20 years’ experience in legal practice globaly. As part of Novartis which she joined in 2004, she headed a number of divisions which include Group Legal, M&A and Strategic Transactions. She has previously held with other companies positions that include a variety of positions including General Counsel with Sandoz, from 2016-2019. She was also previously Global Legal Head, Product Strategy & Commercialisation at Pharma.
Barbara also spent several years as a corporate and transactional attorney with law firms in New York City and Milan. She is an attorney-at-law, admitted to the US Supreme Court, the New York Bar, and the Italian Bar in Milan.
