Febriany Eddy officially became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & President Director of PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (PT Vale) after her appointment was approved by e-AGMS, 29 April 2021. Febriany replaces Nico Kanter who has been CEO of PT Vale since 2011, after going through a succession process internally.

“I am very grateful to have the confidence to be able to work for 9 years at PT Vale. It is even more comfortable and grateful because my replacement, Febriany Eddy, is a very capable and great person. With my current position on the board of commissioners, I hope that I and the other commissioners can help PT Vale under the leadership of Febriany Eddy realize the company’s plans and dreams.”

Nico Kanter

Febriany has worked at Vale for nearly 14 years, 11 of which were at PT Vale. She has nearly 22 years of international work experience in the financial and mining industries. She started her career for Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Jakarta for 5.5 years and in Amsterdam, Netherlands, for 1.5 years. The woman who was born in Palembang, 44 years ago, is involved in various types of work and international projects in financial due diligence.

Febriany’s career at PT Vale began with the position of Manager of Project Financing Supervision and Financial Evaluation, for three years. She was then assigned to the regional office of Vale Base Metals Asia Pacific and Africa based in Brisbane, Australia, for 2.5 years. There, the Bachelor of Economics from the University of Indonesia and holder of the MBA title from UCLA Anderson School of Management and the National University of Singapore holder was responsible for the operations of Vale Base Metals in Indonesia, Japan, China, Taiwan and Africa. She added that nickel is an important material for realizing the world’s decarbonation vision. “Apart from the extraordinary challenges, we are committed to implementing carbon neutral practices in producing nickel in 2050. I am excited to work with a talented and passionate team to work hard in Indonesia and globally. With the right human resources and a culture of “learning together”, PT Vale will be able to realize its ambition to become a great company that is loved by the wider community, “said Febriany, who is in the Top 25 Most Influential Women in Treasury in Asia Pacific (2015).

Being a CEO in a company engaged in an industry with such a masculine image did not dampen Febriany’s spirit. She believes that diversity will bring change in a positive direction. Difference makes all the difference. This is in line with Vale’s target to be a “home” for all talents by embracing diversity, creating equality and creating inclusiveness. Febriany, who was chosen as Asia’s Top Sustainability Superwomen 2019, is also active in voicing issues of diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, through various forums, such as Women in Mining & Energy (WIME), Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE), and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD).
